I receive many complements about my outfits, but sometime I have to wonder if it is really worth it.  You see there are three groups of people who complement my clothes: first graders, middle students, and teachers.  But here in lies my problem, although I receive complements from these various groups of people, I never receive them on the same day.

For example, my first graders are little fashionistas – even the boys.  One day I had on a new watch and they were all complementing it.  They have complemented my skirts, and even my rain boots.

On other days, some of the teachers will complement my outfit.

Then there is middle school.  From them I get complements on my make-up, and I think to myself “Self, do I really want complements on my make-up from junior high students?”

So I find myself in a predicament.  I must admit that I like to receive complements, but I never receive these complements on the same day.  I must have extremes in my wardrobe.  One day it will be by first graders, another by the teacher, and then another day from the middle schoolers.  I have decided that I must have several nice outfits because I am getting complements  I just wish that they would happen on the same day.

I realize that it has been a while since I have posted and I will do my best to give you an update about what has happened recently.

Student teaching has kept me incredibly busy.  I am now officially in charge of the following subjects:

Handwriting 3 and 4

Spelling 4

English 4

Math 4

Science 3 and 4

Reading 3 and 4

History 3 and 4

For those of you who didn’t count, that is 11 subjects! ¬†Last week SFC had our Stanford Achievement Tests. ¬†I was completely in charge of 3rd grades tests which was kind of fun. ¬†Instead of boring you with ¬†useless info on my life I will tell you a story.

I always, always, always were flats to work. ¬†If you think about it, it makes sense to wear flats because I am constantly walking around the room. ¬†Wearing heels is just impractical. ¬†Well on Tuesday I decided to break with tradition and wear heels. ¬†Oh, and not just any heels! ¬†I wore my brown heels (the nice tall ones). ¬†I really didn’t think any of my students would notice… boy was I wrong!

At 8am I entered the gym to pick up my classes and the girls immediately noticed my change of footwear. ¬†The boys were completely clueless as to what the girls were oo-ing and aw-ing. For the sake of those poor boys I pointed out my shoes… they weren’t too impressed (go figure).

Like I stated before, I was in charge of 3rd grades SATs. ¬†We happened to be taking the tests in separate classroom from 4th grade. ¬†In between two of the tests I took the 3rd grade outside for snack/free-time. ¬†The class was enjoying running around, when one of the 4th graders walked past on his way to the restroom. ¬†Well, apparently he wasn’t too thrilled that 3rd grade got to be outside while he was stuck inside during his free time. ¬†He decided to get his revenge on my by calling me a “high-heeled traitor.” ¬†:)

This week commenced my student teaching at SFCS.  Currently I am observing the third and fourth grade class which is taught by Mrs. Becky Wilson.

There was no school on Monday because of MLK Jr Day therefore my first day of work was Tuesday. ¬†My first order of business was attending the teacher’s meeting then I had a meeting with Mr. Asire (my boss). ¬†I was then introduced to my class and began observing. ¬†I really didn’t do anything my first day other than sit in the back of the class and watch.

SFCS uses traditional curriculum as opposed to an ACE-style.  The because of the number of students they have combined third and fourth grade.  For half of the day the third grade class is in another room with another teacher, during the other half Mrs. Wilson is having to balance two classes in one room.  As of two weeks the class of 24 was meeting in another smaller room, but after gaining 2 students and a student teacher the administration decided to move the class into another room.

This was the setting that I entered on Tuesday morning. ¬†The classroom still had not been put together, their teacher wasn’t feeling well, not to mention we had stormy weather outside. ¬†All things considered Tuesday was a good day. ¬†Wednesday was very similar. Thursday, today, I have spent most of the day doing odd jobs: decorating the class, copying papers, etc.

Overall, it is nice to be home but I am still adjusting to this new stage in my life.

As you may already know, I am on Christmas Break. ¬†My family and I didn’t have much planned for today and so I decided to bake a cake. ¬†It wasn’t just any cake that I planned on making, I was going to make a Gluten-Free Red Velvet Cake. ¬†Some of my readers may be aware that “gluten-free” food often has a unique taste to it. ¬†For some individuals “gluten-free” is synonymous with s gross or “tastes like cardboard.” ¬†I’ll admit that many gluten-free products have an interesting flavor that requires the eater to become accustomed to it. ¬†Despite these factors against my cake I opted to make one anyways.

A couple hours later my cake had cooled and I tried a piece of it before making the frosting. ¬†Well, my GF cake didn’t disappoint… or maybe I should say that it did. ¬†Apparently it is too dry ¬†I’m not really sure what went wrong. ¬†I followed the directions, but maybe that was the problem. ¬†Now I’m stuck with a gluten free red velvet cake that no one will want to eat… except for me.

The moral of the story is this: ¬†I don’t know.

I suppose that the next time I attempt to make a GF red velvet cake I should use a different recipe.

The modern girl is your average American girl, who has her Ipod, laptop, blow drier, flat iron, curling iron, cell phone… you get the picture. To put it simply she is “plugged-into society.”¬† To this extent I would consider myself a “modern girl.” Unfortunately technology was not one of my favorite things this week.

On Sunday I was getting ready for church, I had already blowdried my hair and had my flat iron plugged in and warming up.¬† When I began to straighten my hair I realized that my straightener was not hot… it wasn’t even warm. In other words, my straightener had died, deceased, kicked the bucked,¬† was no more, passed on, perished, croaked, bereft of life, bought the farm, departed, expired, gone to meet its maker, lifeless, was pushing up daisies, dead.¬† To my horror I only had 15 more minutes before I had to leave for church. By the grace of God I was able to tame my hair into a manageable style.¬† Later that afternoon I purchased a replacement for my recently departed straightener… may it rest in peace.

On Tuesday I had a chapel presentation due.¬† Seeing that people are visual learners I made a PowerPoint display that coincided with the presentation.¬† I have enough technology savvy to know that I should expect the worst, consequently I provided myself with a large space of time to get my presentation up an running.¬† The projector was setup for me in the chapel and all I needed to do was plug in my computer and “have at it”.¬† So what did I do? I plugged in my computer and attempted to get my presentation to show up on the screen.¬† Long story short… it wasn’t working.¬† I returned to the office to ask if anyone knew how to do it… nope.¬† I texted my brothers… “pressed a bunch of keys until it works” or “i don’t know how to help you”¬† were my responses.¬† So I went and found some high schoolers from ACA, we were diagnosing the problem when my computer decided to freak-out.¬† First the mouse froze, then the screen went black.¬† I turned of my computer and restarted it.¬† The computer decided that it didn’t want to work and wouldn’t even make it to the password screen!¬† By this point I told the guys not to worry about it and I would just make my presentation without the PowerPoint.

Later that day….

I had just entered the dorm when I thought I heard my phone ringing.  When I grabbed my phone I realized that it was not ringing but rather had someone talking to me.  Apparently my phone decided to act of its own accord and call my manager on her cell phone.

Still later that day….

By this time I realized that technology was not on my side and that I should expect the worse when I went to work that evening, and technology did not disappoint me.  Soon after I arrived I was informed that certain individuals had ruined some of the night crews privileges.  During the evening while we are on our breaks we are often in the office on the computer playing spider solitaire.  Occasionally when it is ABSOLUTLY DEAD we will play it while we are on the clock, but this circumstance does not happen frequently.  Apparently an individual who usually works nights decided to play on the computer during lunch time and now all of the night crew gets punished for someones lack of thought.

Today is Thursday and so far I have not had any more technology drama, but you never know.  Stay tuned to find out more.

I have a love/hate relationship with them.  I am addicted to reading.  It was not always this way, in fact, I used to hate reading.  That all changed when I took an Honors English class my junior year of High School.  During that year, I had to read several classics including Pride and Prejudice, Frankenstein, The Scarlet Letter, Sense and Sensibility, Oliver Twist, Northanger Abbey, and the Red Badge of Courage. By the end of the year, I had gotten so used to always having a book with me that I went out and got the Count of Monte Christo. From that point on, I was a goner.  I learned early on in my college career that I should not read for pleasure during the school year because it sidetracked me from my schoolwork.  During semester breaks, you can usually find me reading a book.  I love to read classics.  My three favorite authors have to be Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and Alexandre Dumas.

As much as I love classics I have found myself reading a lot of Christian romance novels recently, but like I said in my first sentence.  We have a love/hate relationship.  I love that they are easy reads.  You do not have to dissect and figure out analogies or metaphors.  You do not have to get through a chapter like “it was the best of times.  It was the worst of times.”  In addition, never do you find an author like Victor Hugo, who has to give you a history lesson on the geography and layout of Paris before he can continue his story.  Christian romances are simple, which happens to be the thing I hate about them.

It is nice to know that when I settle down with a book that I will finish it in a few days… perhaps even hours.  I do not have to worry about the language or questionable content.  I find it very hard to put down the book.  I have to know how they couple ends up together.  With the exception of maybe two or three books, the following are usually the case: you always know which characters are going to fall in love by the end of the first or second chapter; and the books are predictable, and there is never any great shock over the course of the story.

The books leave me with one of three emotions.  I think they are sweet and worth reading again one day.  Second, I felt the book was merely adequate.  Third, I have no idea who these characters are!  For example, I just read a 300-page book and I still have no real comprehension as to whom the characters are and what makes them tick.  Who cares is the guy and girl fall in love.  I want to know more about them.  Because women write most of the stories, the woman’s character is developed more fully than the man’s.  The man is always some Mr. Dreamboat who the girl thinks is too good for her.  He is almost always tall dark and handsome.  Okay so this does not seem like a huge deal, but the stories do seem a little repetitive after a while.

Another thing I do not like is that God is not a main character.  Oh, the people talk about him… sometimes… but they do not have a full relationship with him.  I can understand that in a 120 pg book you can’t go all out like you might in a 400 pg  book; but if I don’t understand these characters’ walk with God how am I suppose to under their character?

I guess if I were to write a novel I would be very specific about its contents.  God will be the central character in my book.  Furthermore, the plan of salvation will be clearly presented.  Finally, maybe the girl will not even get the guy… now that would be different .  However, until I write this novel I think I will sit on the couch and read another book.

I am at James and Renae’s and Renae has ordered me to update my blog so here I go.

Nothing entirely major has happened lately, just a bunch of random things so here is a random post.

Customers are interesting.

There is this one elderly gentleman that comes in early in the morning to get a bowl of soup.¬† He will only eat chicken noodle or minestrone.¬† When he comes in and we are serving Chipotle Chicken Corn Chowder or Broccoli Cheese he begins to lecture us about how nobody likes those soups and that he needs lots vegetables to keep himself alive.¬† He doesn’t understand first of all, people love those soups more than chicken noodle and second, that we have to rotate through our soups.¬† What makes him even more interesting – and somewhat scary is that this man needs a walker to get around.¬† Okay, so that walker doesn’t sound scary…. but the man drives a car!!¬† Seriously… if the guy has to us a walker should he really be driving?

I was very studious the other day while I was avoiding my homework.¬† I know this sounds like an oxymoron…. but its true.¬† I took a ton of classes for subway university.¬† I have now finished 22 classes… I’m not sure how many more I have to do before I graduate.

I have taken Hannah to the ER allot recently.¬† I think I’m getting used to this idea of staying up all night, well, that is until i get to class the next morning.¬† I did fine in class on Thursday, but I was pinching myself all through chapel in order to stay awake.¬† Thankfully I have never fallen asleep during class or chapel during my college career… yet.

I have a dilemma for next Friday night.¬† PBC is going bowling then to coldstones.¬† LBC is going to boomers.¬† Bowling and ice cream is “free” cause I paid the activity fee… boomers’ isn’t free.¬† Either way I will be making some of my friends mad… maybe i should ditch both that way I don’t have to decide

Hmmm, I’m not sure what other random information I should post.¬† If I think of anymore I will post it later.

The movie “Cars” is one of Melissa’s favorites; however her auntie seems to be having the worst time with vehicles right now.¬†

As you already know I went mattress surfing a few weeks ago; as a result my beautiful Malibu was totaled.¬† I got a rental car that was totally sweet (2008 Malibu) but had to return it when I went home on vacation.¬† I am now the not-so-proud-owner of a GOLD!!!! ford focus.¬† I am very greatful that God has provided a car for me… but does it really have to be gold?¬† I refer to my car (actually its Daniel’s car) as Colonel Mustard.

Well the other day I was once again about to go visit James and Renae.¬† I was driving around the block at the dorm when I got a flat tire.¬† That did it!¬† I was in tears over a silly car!¬† Thankfully Mr. and Mrs. Wilson came to my rescue and helped me take care of the Colonel. The Wilson’s vehicles are currently acting up on them so they were in a rental vehicle (the Cube). And yes, i got to ride in it when we went to walmart to get a new tire.¬† The Cube is truly a unique car.

I never made it to James and Renae’s.¬† But I am very greatful to people like the Wilsons who are willing to help me… and sometimes spoil me.

So… last week I kind of sort of probably totaled my car.

Yes, that’s right!¬† Last Saturday I was on my way to visit James and Renae down in Costa Mesa.¬† I was on the 57 south in the fast lane traveling about 75mph in the fast lane.¬† I had just past the Honda Center and was next to Angel Stadium when the cars ahead of me began to merge out of the lane.¬† The reason for their actions was that there was mattress in the middle of the lane!¬† I began to break and I was unable to merge into another lane.¬† I continued to break…. break…. break… Screech… BANG!!!!!!¬† I was rear ended by a astro mini-van.¬† I’m not sure whose car did the screeching.¬† It took me a little while to figure out that I had been hit, by that time I was in the carpool lane several feet from the van and the mattress.

A CHP officer was soon on the scene and the two vehicles and the mattress where moved onto the shoulder. The paramedics were called along with tow trucks.¬† Nobody was taken away by the paramedic, but my car was towed…. the muffler was scraping the ground.

I went to urgent care to get myself checked out…. the doctor said that I have a strained neck.

I am now in possesion of a rental car.¬† The status of my vehicle is unknown… probably totaled.¬† I am somewhat sore but can survive without medicine. And in conclusion I don’t know what happened to the matress.

Grrr. I made great plans for today. It was my day off and I was going to seclude myself at the coffee bean, which has free Wi-Fi, and I was going to spend time on the internet. Checking email, blogging, Subway University, etc., well I made it to coffee bean just fine, ordered my drink and got ready to use my computer. Wouldn‚Äôt you know it… my computer decides it does not like the internet today. Oh, it says I‚Äôm connected‚Ķ but nothing is loading. On top of that, I had brought my headphones so that no one would have to listen to all my subway stuff‚Ķ and my computer won‚Äôt admit that I have even plugged them it. Sometimes computers make me want to go crazy.

I rebooted my computer… that didn’t help. Texted my brother… he can’t help until I visit tomorrow. My only solution is to give up, go home, and finish the book I was reading.

Well, seems how I am writing I might as well give a good update about my life. As usual, work keeps be busy. Oh the drama of work! Half the time I can’t help laughing at all of it. Most recently, I heard a rumor that I was trying to get someone fired! I’ll try to tell this story as simple as possible. One morning I was working with two other shift leaders. One of them is usually a closer (like me) and we were commenting how another closing shift lead has become “comfortable” with work. Well somehow, word traveled and the shift leader who we said was “comfortable” heard that me and the other person thought she was “lazy” which then was interpreted, as we want to get her fired! Honestly, I should know better than to say anything like that at work. It doesn’t matter who you work with, whatever you say will be spread through the entire store by the next day. Nothing is ever held in confidence. I guess that comes with working with a bunch of girls.

Life in the dorm is going normal. Hannah and I see each other every occasionally. Between our work schedules, different churches, and her doctor appointments, we see one another for maybe two 15-minute sessions a day (that’s just Monday through Thursday). From Friday to Sunday, it is actually a miracle if we see each other. I think we have become fairly good at summing up our days in those few minutes.

I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain last week with my Sunday School Class. It was a blast. I honestly couldn‚Äôt tell you what was the best ride‚Ķ terminator‚Ķ batman… tatsu‚Ķ I don‚Äôt know they were all pretty fun. Although I definitely didn‚Äôt like the line for superman‚Ķ dark tunnel‚Ķ crowded‚Ķ hour wait‚Ķ I couldn‚Äôt wait for fresh air! My only regret was that we didn‚Äôt get to go on X2‚Ķ both times we got in line we were informed that the ride was down.

I can’t wait for August. I get to go on vacation! I will by flying home then driving with my parents and brother up to Oregon to attend my cousins wedding. I will be gone for two weeks! When I return I will be registering for my classes and back in school. I feel as if summer is flying by!

I’m not sure what else I should say. Oh! I cut my hair! It is now above my shoulders. I haven’t had it this short in over 5 years. It is taking a little while to get used to, especially when I have to try to put it up for work.

Today is my little brother’s and Grandpa’s birthdays. Daniel is 19! Man that makes me feel old… even if I’m only 20 I made sure I texted him bright and early this morning to wish him a great bday. Well, in actuality, it was still dark outside, and I hadn’t gone to bed yet. I’m sure he appreciated a text just after midnight though.

Ok. I need to stop rambling. Hope you enjoyed reading about everything.

I sincerely apologize for not posting in a LONG while.¬† Since my last post a many things have taken place.¬† I work 40 hours a week …or at least one or two hours shy of it.¬† I also got a raise!!!¬† Subway definitely keeps my busy.¬† When I’m not at work I get called in… or they ask me to run an errand for them…¬† basically I live and breath subway.

I’ve done tons of reading so far.¬† I’ve already lost count of how many books I’ve read.

My grandma passed away about three weeks ago.¬† She had lung cancer, but died in her sleep from a heart attack. (the hospice nurse said she probably didn’t feel any pain).¬† I went home that weekend.¬† Grandma didn’t want to have any services… just a family gathering at the house.¬† There were approximately 85 people there (almost all of them are related to me… if only i knew who they were )¬† One nice thing about the trip was that I had the chance to see my adorable niece!!!!!!!¬† She can say “auntie”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thinks thats about it.  I should probably get back to subway university.

So, I was called a feminist this week.  Actually I was called  anti-husband, anti-children, anti-shovenist, anti-Christian, anti-church feminist!  Then when I asked for evidence the culprit was unable to provide any.  According to that definition I would say I am most definitely not a feminist!!!

I believe that a woman has a right to be voice her opinion and be respected for it.  Nonetheless, the woman is to submit to the authority in her life (ie. God, her father, brother, husband, pastor etc.).  If voicing my opinion does not conflict with their authority then I see no harm is saying what needs to be said. Apparently others disagree with me.

I at a point in my life were I have no husband and have no prospects (that doesn’t make me anti-husband and anti-children).¬† I don’t consider the lack of prospects to be a disadvantage.¬† I have a great opportunity to get to know my God and to serve him with reckless abandon.¬† (i’m not perfect… but He is making me perfect)¬† God is the final authority in my life and I submit myself under his authority.

My father is also an authority in my life.  I would never intentionally do anything to defy his God-given authority.  In like manner, I respect my brothers and value their opinion.

My pastor and professors are authorities in my life.¬† While I am under their leadership I will respect their authority.¬† The Hebrews 13:17 says “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”¬† As long as there is any form of authority in my life i will obey this verse in Hebrews.

I worked this morning from 6-2 which means my alarm was set to go off at 5am.¬† So, this morning I am lying in bed “hmmm, I wonder what time it is.”¬† “I checked my alarm last night and it hasn’t gone off yet.”¬† “Let met just make sure.”¬† So I get up and walk across the room to my dresser to pick up my phone.¬† … “where is my phone?”¬† “Oh NO!” “PHONE!!!!”¬† So, I ran frantically to the kitchen to find a clock¬† “6:22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”¬† “NO!!!!!!!”¬† “WHERE IS MY PHONE!!!”¬† … It was in my bed, under the covers!!!!!! ¬† “I’m supposed to be at work, and I have the key to get in!¬† somebody is waiting out in the cold!¬† Oh no!”¬† I text my manager “just woke up.¬† running to work”¬† No lie! I ran out of the dorm.

So, I make to to work, and guess what.¬† My opener isn’t there!!!¬† She thought she worked later in the day and didn’t open.¬† So finally, we both are at work and have 20 minutes to get the store ready to open!¬† Praise God we made it!

But my story isn’t finished!

The GM was supposed to come in today at 8am. She lives kind of far away and needs to take the 210E to get to Pomona.  If you have heard any traffic reports this morning you heard about the major accident on the 210E that caused two fatalities, well she had to sit in that traffic.  Two hours after she was supposed to be at Subway she finally made it!

So I don’t know how in the world it was possible, but all three of us were late!¬† We all had our own issuse, but it made for a very intersting morning.

Let me start by saying that work called me on Monday and wanted to know if I could come in and close… I said “No way, Jose!¬† I need to to homework!”¬† And I did actually do homework

Last night during my break I was texting Daniel and asking him what he was doing.¬† He told me he was working on a devotional for his speech class based off of Psalm 68:19 and 72:18.¬† He also informed the that he had read the verses the day before Bert’s caregiver unexpectantly died.¬† I didn’t have my Bible with me so I told him I would look them up when I got home that evening.

I got home around 10:30ish and noticed that Hannah wasn’t home.¬† I knew she was feeling sick and that she has a doctors appointment in the afternoon, but she should have been home by now.¬† My conclusion what that she was in the hospital and I was a little mad that I wasn’t told that she went to the ER (but then again when your sick you don’t really think that logically).¬† I got in contact with her and she told me that the she had been to the ER and they were sending her home with medicine… (and still no answers).

I went to my room and began to do my evening devotions and remembered that I was going to look up the verses that Daniel told me about.

Psalm 68:19  Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah

Ps 72:18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

Wow!  that was just what I needed!  No matter what the circumstances of life my God only does wondrous things.  I may question His working but when I stop and consider I know that He is doing wondrous things.  I may wake up in the morning with a headache or I may have a really bad day cause of celiac but my God still loads me with benefits.  No matter how my day begins or where it goes my God has supplied an overabundance of benefits to me and is constantly doing wondrous things.  God is truly amazing and worthy to be praised!

I was so excited about this weekend because they scheduled me to have three days off in a row!!! ¬†Actually I was suppose to go in on Saturday morning for an hour for a meeting, but the owner decided that he didn’t want to pay for everyone to go to this meeting, so it was cancelled. ¬†So I opted to visit my family today… and Subway called me twice. ¬†The first time the GM called me about a question regarding party platters. ¬†I was so glad when that was all she wanted because ¬†I was so sure that she was going to ask me to work tonight. ¬†Well less than an hour later i get another phone call. ¬†And you’ve guessed it. ¬†they asked me to come into work… Sunday morning. ¬†Apparently the manager is in the hospital and can’t open tomorrow morning so I was asked to work from 6-8 am. ¬†Well, you know me… I can’t say no to work. ¬†So tomorrow morning at 6am I will be at Subway. ¬†At 8 I will be in my car headed back to the dorm and by 10 I will be at church. ¬†As for my last day off, Monday, I plan to do lots and lots of homework. ¬†:)

I know that you are probably tired of hearing about all the work drama in my life, but my story isn’t finished.

Let’s start on Wednesday - I begin to lose my voice.

Thursday I have the day off and spend the entire day trying not to talk… by the way it was very hard… I always have something to say to someone.

On Friday my voice is better, but wasn’t 100% so I called work a little before 9am to see if I could get out of work.¬† Well, the manager was sick; one shift leader came in at 9; and the other one was suspended.¬† So there I was working… without a voice.¬† Thankfully I didn’t have to help that many customers.

Saturday morning I went to the OC to visit James and Renae.¬† That evening (3pm)¬†I got to work and there were two girls working.¬† Soon after I was there one of them asked if she could go home (she was very sick).¬† I told her to find someone to cover her shift seems how she was supposed to be there until 8.¬† Well, no one could cover for her.¬† The other girl left at 4 and couldn’t stay longer.¬† My closer wasn’t getting in until 5 so I told the one girl to make it until 5 and then I would send her home.¬† 5 o’clock came and I sent her home… leaving 2 people for the entire dinner rush.¬† Thank God that it was a slow night.¬† We not only got all of our work done, but all of her work too.

You would think that this would be enough of a story for one week… but its not… it never is.

Sunday:¬† My voice was doing better… but still not perfect.¬† I was scared of what choir would do to it so I chose not to sing in the morning service but when to evening practice anyways.¬† Thankfully I am an alto so I had no problems with hitting those low notes… but my voice didn’t like the top half of the treble clef.¬† Near the end of choir my phone vibrates and it says “Subway Pomona.”¬†¬† So I get up and answer the phone.¬† Long story short – they needed me.¬† I told them it would take me approximately 30 minutes to get there because I had to go to the dorm and get changed and then head back to Subway.¬† On my way out of the Church parking lot I called the manager and told her that I was going in but that it would probably put me on overtime and that I wouldn’t get there for another 30 minutes cause I had to go change.¬† She told me not to worry about changing and just go in as I was.¬† *Let me remind you that I am in my church clothes… heals and all.*¬† So I went straight to Subway.¬† The time now is roughly 4:45 and there is a party order (3 large platters)¬†due at 5 and only 1 platter was done, the front was a mess, there where a ton of customers, we were nearly out of bread, the shift lead is new to the position, one co-worker is new and the other one is just learning the cash register.¬† Needless to say it was pretty crazy.¬† I found an apron and got to work on the party platters.¬† Just after 5 they were finished and given to the customer.¬† Next to tackle were the mess and the bread.¬† I’m sure that the customers thought that I was either someone important or a little crazy… I wasn’t in the uniform and I was in a skirt and heals!¬† I was so glad that I grabbed a hair tie when I left the dorm that afternoon.¬† By 6:15 everything was under control and in a manageable state so I left.¬† I had completely missed church by now, but was able to go to the Harvey’s for the college activity.¬†

Well, that was my life this week.¬† I hope to one day write and say that nothing eventful happened at work… like that will ever happen.¬† Also I do plan on blogging about school… we will see when I get to that.

So its been a few weeks since I put up the post asking you to figure out which care-bear represented which girl in the dorm.  Well here are may answers:

Natalie = Grumpy Bear

Monica = Cheer Bear

Jireh= Oopsy Bear

Hannah= Funshine Bear

Me = Share Bear

So Hannah and I were at Target one day and saw a care bear¬†puzzle… in it was grumpy bear, cheer bear, and share bear.¬† It appeared that cheer bear and share bear where sort of giving grumpy bear a makeover… and well that is what we kind of did for the winter formal. Next Hannah and I spied a puzzle with all five care bears and we knew that it was an accurate perception of the girls dorm.

So the past week of my life has been anything but uneventful.¬† Mom and I left So Cal last Sunday and had a very nice drive home… in fact we made in back in time for the evening service at Calvary.¬†

So my parents were having our kitchen floor retiled and one of the workers fell through the floor… and into my room… this was before I got home… So there was a hole in my ceiling causing me to sleep in the guest bedroom upstairs.

Monday Morning I went with my parents for breakfast… we had to eat all of our meals out because we can’t get into the kitchen for anything.¬† After breakfast I headed to BART so that I could get to jury duty.¬† I arrived at jury duty a little before 8:30, found a seat, and began to read a book that I brought with me.¬† Two hours later they announced that they would be calling two name roles and to say ‘here’ when your name was called.¬† My name wasn’t in the first list so I waited for approximately another 15 minute when the next list of names was called.¬† My name was on the second list… after they finished reading all the names they said that it was our luck day and that we were dismissed.¬†

So here it was 10:30ish, I didn’t want to go home cause of the construction and I didn’t want to go over to SF… I decided to go shopping.¬† By 12:30 I was tired of that so I drove to a park and sat in my car and read more of my book.¬† Well that got tiring too and finally I decided to go home around 2:30.¬† It took me forever to find something on TV that was worth watching but I finally settled on something around 3.¬†

About 15 minutes later I got a phone call from my roommate Natalie who said that her and Katie had been in a car accident in SF.¬† Well needless to say I was able to come to their rescue and make sure they were taken care off.¬† My parents and I took them to the emergency room just to get them checked out… and we didn’t leave until almost midnight.¬† Thankfully they were both okay.¬† A few bumps and bruises… but nothing major.

I spent Tuesday with the girls here at home and made sure that they got lots or rest… and boy did we rest.¬† They had their flight home on Wednesday… and they are now safe and sound with their families in Washington.

After dropping them off at the airport my mom and I headed to SF for church/ SFCS Christmas program.  I ended up running into a bunch of my high school friends at the program and I made plans to hang out with some of them the next day.  I spent Thursday shopping with my friends, and I wasted Friday by doing absolutely nothing of value.

The kitchen floor was finished sometime this week, so my mom and I were able to decorate the house for Christmas on Saturday.  The hole in my ceiling has been patched up so I finally spent the night in my own bed last night.

Daniel was supposed to be home Friday… but he has somehow managed to beat my record of being stuck in airports… He now planning on being home tonight (Sunday) around 10:30.

Hopefully this next week won’t be as eventful… but then it‚Äôs Christmas Break… and events are just part of the season… right?

So this semester is almost over and I am so ready for Christmas Break!¬† I have one week left in which I get to take all of my finals.¬† I also have a paper and a lot of homework due Thursday for Mrs. Pryde’s class.¬† But then on Friday I have no school and I get to go to Cassey & Becky’s Wedding.¬† Mom flies in Saturday night and we drive home on Sunday.

My Christmas Break looks like it is going to be REALLY busy.¬† I have jury duty on the 15th and Mom wants me to help her decorate the house for Christmas.¬† At the end of the week Daniel comes home and a few days after that James, Renae, Mary, John, and Melissa will get into town.¬† We get to celebrate Christmas together… and it sounds like Mary is making a lot of plans for what we will be doing. We will be taking family pictures, and I will be going to see my Grandparents.¬† By this time my break will nearly be over, and it will be time for everyone to say goodbye and go there separet ways.¬† It sounds like I will be back in So Cal around January 3, and I have a to take the winter interum class with Pastor Kirkland.

Well, I have great plans for today.¬† I need to do Christmas shopping for everyone on my list. Also tonight is the winter formal, so will spend my afternooon getting ready for that…. I’m so glad I don’t work today!

Well, I think that that is all for now.  Have a great day.
