Random Ramblings

Posted by rufeo on Jul 2, 2009 in Asides, Life, work

Grrr. I made great plans for today. It was my day off and I was going to seclude myself at the coffee bean, which has free Wi-Fi, and I was going to spend time on the internet. Checking email, blogging, Subway University, etc., well I made it to coffee bean just fine, ordered my drink and got ready to use my computer. Wouldn’t you know it… my computer decides it does not like the internet today. Oh, it says I’m connected… but nothing is loading. On top of that, I had brought my headphones so that no one would have to listen to all my subway stuff… and my computer won’t admit that I have even plugged them it. Sometimes computers make me want to go crazy.

I rebooted my computer… that didn’t help. Texted my brother… he can’t help until I visit tomorrow. My only solution is to give up, go home, and finish the book I was reading.

Well, seems how I am writing I might as well give a good update about my life. As usual, work keeps be busy. Oh the drama of work! Half the time I can’t help laughing at all of it. Most recently, I heard a rumor that I was trying to get someone fired! I’ll try to tell this story as simple as possible. One morning I was working with two other shift leaders. One of them is usually a closer (like me) and we were commenting how another closing shift lead has become “comfortable” with work. Well somehow, word traveled and the shift leader who we said was “comfortable” heard that me and the other person thought she was “lazy” which then was interpreted, as we want to get her fired! Honestly, I should know better than to say anything like that at work. It doesn’t matter who you work with, whatever you say will be spread through the entire store by the next day. Nothing is ever held in confidence. I guess that comes with working with a bunch of girls.

Life in the dorm is going normal. Hannah and I see each other every occasionally. Between our work schedules, different churches, and her doctor appointments, we see one another for maybe two 15-minute sessions a day (that’s just Monday through Thursday). From Friday to Sunday, it is actually a miracle if we see each other. I think we have become fairly good at summing up our days in those few minutes.

I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain last week with my Sunday School Class. It was a blast. I honestly couldn’t tell you what was the best ride… terminator… batman… tatsu… I don’t know they were all pretty fun. Although I definitely didn’t like the line for superman… dark tunnel… crowded… hour wait… I couldn’t wait for fresh air! My only regret was that we didn’t get to go on X2… both times we got in line we were informed that the ride was down.

I can’t wait for August. I get to go on vacation! I will by flying home then driving with my parents and brother up to Oregon to attend my cousins wedding. I will be gone for two weeks! When I return I will be registering for my classes and back in school. I feel as if summer is flying by!

I’m not sure what else I should say. Oh! I cut my hair! It is now above my shoulders. I haven’t had it this short in over 5 years. It is taking a little while to get used to, especially when I have to try to put it up for work.

Today is my little brother’s and Grandpa’s birthdays. Daniel is 19! Man that makes me feel old… even if I’m only 20 :) I made sure I texted him bright and early this morning to wish him a great bday. Well, in actuality, it was still dark outside, and I hadn’t gone to bed yet. I’m sure he appreciated a text just after midnight though.

Ok. I need to stop rambling. Hope you enjoyed reading about everything.

Best prank ever part 2

Posted by rufeo on May 28, 2009 in Asides

I know everyone has been waiting in anticipation to discover what the prank was. are you ready?  …nothing…  thats right.  we did absolutely nothing.  Hannah, Ji and I were sitting at lunch one dya and one of the guys was there and we asked him what he thought of our prank.  That started the questions of “what did you do?”  It got even better because they guys admitted that they were not going to go back to the dorm until that evening.  The whole day they were fretting over what we did.  ok, so it might not have been the bestest prank ever… but it was kind of funny to watch them fret.

I’ll give everyone a better update about my life whenever i get the chance.

Best Prank Ever … part 1

Posted by rufeo on Apr 28, 2009 in Asides

The story of the best prank ever begins a year ago during PBC’s tenth annual graduation fellowship.  The girls dorm was getting restless and we desperately needed something to keep us occupied so we decided to play UNO.  Ji had never played UNO before so it was quite interesting.  As the night dragged on we decided that UNO was no longer meeting our entertainment needs… our minds began to race… One thought led to another… Next thing we know we have convinced Ji to deliver a pizza box filled with rotten bananas to the guy dorm… (it was late in the evening).  She was completely frightened as she walked across the street and rang there door bell.  Much to our chagrin, they never answered the door.  But that hiccup was not going to put a halt to our villainous plans.  Ji put on her most sweetest innocent voice and called Eric on his cell to tell him that somebody kept on ringing our door bell (this is after we called their dorm a few times and hung up on them).  As we peaked out of our bathroom widow nothing could surprise us more than seeing the guys (in their PJs) emerge from the side of the house and carrying a baseball bat.  As they reached the front of their house, they saw our special delivery pizza… and knew they had been pranked.

Ji was in torment the whole next day.  Her conscience was telling her that the guys were mad at her… they wouldn’t answer her phone calls.  Finally when Kyle answered, he said that he had never seen Casey that mad before.  That really sent her into tears. That evening she discovered that the guys really were not mad at her and that they had been pulling her leg.

The next morning as Hannah and I walked out to her car we couldn’t help but bust up laughing.  They had gotten us.  Hannah’s car was TP-ed.

Ever since last year we have waited with anticipation for this years graduation fellowship.  The girls dorm has pulled a prank this year that is unbelievably awesome.  the prank is still in progress… so i can’t disclose any information.  but come back soon to find out what we did and how they responded.

Feminist?!

Posted by rufeo on Apr 21, 2009 in Asides, God, Life

So, I was called a feminist this week.  Actually I was called  anti-husband, anti-children, anti-shovenist, anti-Christian, anti-church feminist!  Then when I asked for evidence the culprit was unable to provide any.  According to that definition I would say I am most definitely not a feminist!!!

I believe that a woman has a right to be voice her opinion and be respected for it.  Nonetheless, the woman is to submit to the authority in her life (ie. God, her father, brother, husband, pastor etc.).  If voicing my opinion does not conflict with their authority then I see no harm is saying what needs to be said. Apparently others disagree with me.

I at a point in my life were I have no husband and have no prospects (that doesn’t make me anti-husband and anti-children).  I don’t consider the lack of prospects to be a disadvantage.  I have a great opportunity to get to know my God and to serve him with reckless abandon.  (i’m not perfect… but He is making me perfect)  God is the final authority in my life and I submit myself under his authority.

My father is also an authority in my life.  I would never intentionally do anything to defy his God-given authority.  In like manner, I respect my brothers and value their opinion.

My pastor and professors are authorities in my life.  While I am under their leadership I will respect their authority.  The Hebrews 13:17 says “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”  As long as there is any form of authority in my life i will obey this verse in Hebrews.

Almost

Posted by rufeo on Apr 13, 2009 in Asides

I’m so excited that it is almost summer!  I am discovering that as the semester draws to a close I want to do less and less school work.  I can’t wait until I can do some reading that doesn’t have to do with schoolwork.

I have two weeks left (actually 7 days) and 6 more projects to do.  I feel like I have been turning in projects all semester!  I guess that’s how college is suppose to be – and endless list of things to do.

I’m avoiding homework right now.  I should be working on my paper for Creation v. Evolution.  I’m writing it on eugenics and am finding it very interesting.  Galton, the father of eugenics, was Charles Darwin’s cousin!  Anyways, my paper is basically how Darwinian thought leads to eugenics and eventually genocide.

Got to get back to my homework.  Like I said I can’t wait for summer!
